Candice’s European Tour Diary 2014 – Part 7!

I should have written the rest of this as it happened, but I think I got lazy…or maybe hungover, so here is what I remember from here on out…

Wednesday 8-27: OSLO, Norway

I can’t tell you what time we left Wednesday morning from Lund, Sweden to get to Oslo, Norway, but I do know that we always leave earlier than I would like to. The night before, we had to selectively go through our merch and make sure we brought just the right amount. There is always a chance of getting stopped at the Norwegian customs, so we had to make sure we brought enough, but not too much in case we got stopped. They will tax the hell out of your merch just to bring it in to the country. Thankfully, we never got stopped so it wasn’t an issue. I think the drive took about 6 hours or so. I slept most of the way there. Elvis’s girlfriend was with us for the next few shows. I have to admit, that it was nice to have another girl around while traveling…someone to sympathize with once in a while doesn’t hurt…

I’d never been to Norway before, but it looks likes Oregon to me. Oslo seems to be a fun city, but if I thought Sweden was expensive, I was in for another surprise. Just to give you an idea, if you want to get a small bottle of water, like one you would get at 7-11 for $1, it will cost $4 or $5 there, no joke. We had a little extra time when we arrived in Oslo, so we checked in at our hotel first, and then walked down to the venue, which was conveniently only a couple of blocks from where we were staying. After soundcheck, we were directed to the backstage area….it was seriously a scene out of the movie Spinal Tap. I got lost about 20 times back there…Backstage, they had set up an awesome dining room for us…a huge vat filled with beers on ice on top of the table, and then shortly after soundcheck they served us dinner. Another amazing meal, courtesy of Europe! Beef stew! Elvis (the fake vegetarian) ordered a veggie meal ha!

After waiting around, and waiting, and waiting…because that’s we do most of the tiime…wait to play….we finally took the stage. But what a fun show, especially for a Wednesday night! Super packed and everyone was really in to it…eventhough this was our very first time to Oslo. Our American friend Dirk (who is also a badass tattoo artist in Oslo), booked the show, set the whole thing up, and made sure we were really well taken of. It’s always nice to go to a new market and have someone looking after you. After the show, we all drank too many beers and finally we went back to our hotel…I think it was 3am…and we had to leave the next morning at around 8am to go BACK to Sweden…
